Japanese delegations bring a wave of economic and cultural opportunity to Whanganui
International Education
Export Growth is about building more value from what Whanganui already does well. With one of the region’s strongest exporting economies and a deep manufacturing base, the opportunity is to move further into value-added processing, diversification, and scale.
These are real businesses, real supply chains, and real markets, ready to grow now. Whanganui & Partners works with investors and firms to identify where capital can lift value, accelerate growth, and strengthen export performance.

A regional CLT manufacturing platform anchored in Whanganui, transforming locally harvested logs into engineered timber products for domestic and export markets. The opportunity strengthens lower North Island processing capacity and captures greater onshore value from existing forestry production.

An independent dairy value-add processing platform in Whanganui designed to convert locally produced milk powder into premium nutritional and specialty dairy products for export markets. The opportunity leverages the significant output of the existing Open Country processing facility to shift from commodity powder to higher-margin, market-driven products, positioning Whanganui to capture greater downstream value within New Zealand’s dairy supply chain.

A value-add red meat processing platform in Whanganui built on two established meat works and strong regional livestock supply. The opportunity captures greater downstream value through premium processing of meat cuts, tallow and other byproducts, positioning the region to strengthen its role in high-margin export protein and bio-based markets.

A regional carrot juicing and processing facility anchored in Ohakune, converting currently under-utilised carrot residue into export-grade juice concentrate for established international markets. The opportunity strengthens Ruapehu’s value-add capability, improves utilisation of existing horticultural production, and captures greater onshore value within the district before export.
