Whanganui & Partners is excited to present Biz Buzz Month, a month-long celebration of Whanganui’s 4,000+ businesses. “We’re creating this month to give snapshots of our diverse business community,” says Rhonda Morris, Whanganui & Partner’s Strategic Lead – Business Development.
“I’m looking forward to engaging with these businesses and showcasing what they do. Business isn’t just factories and shopfronts — we have this amazingly diverse community of businesses and a rich business history. There are businesses here that have been around since my dad was a little boy, businesses that I take my kids to that my mum took me to.”
The month will see a series of events designed to promote and support local businesses, including speakers, workshops and the Biz Buzz Bake Off, where hospitality businesses’ signature dishes will compete for a prize awarded by a panel of celebrity judges. In addition to the events, two campaigns will run throughout the month: the Boots on the Ground Business Survey and Business Drop-Ins
“The Boots on the Ground Survey is all about engagement,” says Morris. The brief survey includes questions for business owners about obstacles they face and what assistance they may need. “This will give us a clear awareness of what our business community needs and wants and also gives our business community a chance to be heard.” Results from the survey will be published and used by Whanganui & Partners to guide business development initiatives.
While Whanganui & Partners’ surveyors are keen to listen, businesses can also expect staff members to drop in with something to say. “For the whole month of August, our staff will be doing random Business Drop-Ins to all types of businesses to show our appreciation,” says Morris. “We want to say thanks and give them a coffee on us.”
